Creatures
These photos started with a commission from The Atlantic magazine to photograph, Oliver, a chimpanzee that was considered to be the "missing link" at one time. The BBC and the Discover Channel had done pieces on his fascinating story and I was to offer my take on him. They used a couple of images to illustrate the article. This expanded my interest in animals that had started with my Texas Rangeland series and book of the same name.
In the end, this body of photographs, Creatures, seems to offer a glimpse at my own humanity. They appear to provide a way to explore the rich metaphor that lies within us without appearing to do so. A way of tricking myself. I like that.
